MARDEN HILL HOUSE

A stunning Grade II-listed country retreat in Hertfordshire, featuring an iconic entrance designed by Sir John Soane — the pillars later serving as prototypes for the Bank of England. Once a musical commune and country escape for regulars of Soho’s legendary Colony Rooms, the house was a haunt of Jimi Hendrix and Mick Jagger, and the place where Rod Stewart wrote Maggie May. Our brief was to transform this large-scale property into a liveable family home for five, creating thoughtfully zoned living spaces while paying homage to its rich pop-cultural past.
